May 2002

The LITTERÆ ECCLESIASTICÆ of church SISTER LAURA FOLK of the church of burgertime, MASSACHUSETTS PARISH.

Laura wrote the church early in the year 2002, (Y-20, CoB), regarding whether or not SuperNES, Nintendo 64 or PlayStation made a version of Burgertime because she wanted to introduce the game to her son Rand. Through her vigilant letters to the leaders of those WHO HOLD RIGHTS TO THE GAME she provided us with pertinent information regarding the game we so love. The game is available for Playstation on ARCADE'S GREATEST HITS: THE MIDWAY COLLECTION 2. For her persistence and work, she has been knighted by pontifical decree with the title, SUPREME EPISOLæ CHEF PEPPERARIUS et QUæ

ALL WELCOME SISTER LAURA FOLK and her son RAND!

Her correspondence follows.

Hello I was wondering if Super NES or Nintendo 64 made a "Burgertime"? I have the Atari version and just recently discovered that 8 Bit NES made a version, and was wondering if I had any other options?

To Which pontifex maximus and J.D. Lowe replied that they weren't sure. Rather than be discouraged, Laura continued her quest.

Hello.
Well I just bought the game for my 8-Bit top Loader Nintendo on ebay. I wrote to Nintendo and asked them why they didn't make "classic" arcade games available for the Game Cube. Their answer was a dance around pile of dung. However, they did say they had links to video game manufacturers where you could go to their site and make "requests". I also did some more investigations and found Konami, and SEVERAL other manufacturers already make Arcade Classic discs for PlayStation!! (looks like it is time for me to invest in one of those!) Anyway I was wondering if you could tell me the name of the Original manufacturer of Burger Time so I can write to the company and ask them to put out the Arcade version for PlayStation?

Thank You so much take care,

Hello,

I was told you bought the rights to "Intellivision" games? I am a consumer and Lover of Classic Arcade games. I have done some research on one of my all time favorite games "Burgertime", and learned that Data East sold the rights to this game in the late 80's. I know companies such as Konami, and Namco have put out "collections" of their Arcade classics on discs for PlayStation, and was wondering if you were planning on doing the same for your "Classic Arcade Games"? Believe it or not there is a market for this sort of thing as there are a bunch of us 20 some-things out there who enjoy having a bit of our childhood back (Note: the retro explosion). If you no longer own the rights to this game and could point me in the direction of the Company who does I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your time,

The arcade version of BurgerTime was available for PlayStation on ARCADE'S GREATEST HITS: THE MIDWAY COLLECTION 2. The collection came out around 1997 or 1998 on both PlayStation and PC. We used to sell it on our Retrotopia.com website until it went out of print in 2000. Data East still owns BurgerTime. They licensed it to Midway to include on the collection, as they had licensed it to Mattel in 1983 for Intellivision. Most recently, they licensed it to another company for the Flintstones-themed Game Boy cartridge "BurgerTime in Bedrock."
